Building up: Songscapes x NOMADS
In October 2026 Songscapes is part of the NOMADS Festival, organized by Interkult. We invite Koiro Duo and Lucas Makena Duo.

Songscapes takes you on a journey of original song compositions at Vapaan Taiteen Tila. Produced by members of the Global Music department at the Sibelius Academy, this project has been running since November 2024, inviting artists to share their own music and creative visions.
The idea behind Songscapes was born from the need for a space in Helsinki’s music scene where diverse, original songs could be heard and appreciated. Though often influenced by various genres, this music doesn’t fit neatly into any one category.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Koiro Duo
Koiro unites Argentine musician Manu Rosales and Brazilian-German artist Stephanie Kobori in a collaborative reinterpretation of contemporary popular Latin American music through guitar, ronroco, clarinet, and voices.
Drawing from South American traditions, their work blends Argentine folklore, Brazilian rhythms, and Andean influences into a distinctive, intimate and continually evolving sound. The duo will also share a preview of their upcoming debut album!
Lucas Makena Duo
Tanzanian songwriter, composer, and guitarist Lucas Makena accompanied by bassist Humphrey Mubba present a concert rooted in original songs and the musical heritage from across the African continent. Lucas draws inspiration from the rich musical traditions of Tanzania, Congo, and West Africa, blending them with elements of Soul and Funk.
Both artists are based in Finland and together, Lucas and Mubba create an intimate yet vibrant and powerful musical experience where rhythm, melody, and storytelling meet in a celebration of African-rooted contemporary music.
